Stylish haven

I absolutely adore this Manhattan apartment belonging to Candace Bushnell and her husband. Sophisticated and glamorous, it is everything I would expect from the author of Sex and the City. I love how they have mixed timeless antique pieces together with modern art and added splashes of bright colour, like the fun Moroccan poufs. Just gorgeous, don't you think? You can see the rest of their apartment over at ELLE Decor.

Royal Wedding fever!

Hi friends, how are you this Friday? I am actually ridiculously excited and curious about the Royal Wedding! What will Kate be wearing is the big question? I'm sure it will be extremely classic and timeless and of course absolutely beautiful! I can already see I'm not going to get much work done today, there's no TV here at work so I'll have to resort to watching the wedding live on my laptop via CNN. Enjoy the wedding if you're watching and have a fabulous weekend!

Rose Gallery

Today I'd like to showcase the work of local photographer, Mike Rose. Mike is a talented photographer whose portfolio is filled with the most gorgeous photos but his travel photos appealed most to me. Scenic photos from Italy, Cuba and more, it felt like I was taking a virtual trip around the world. I've picked out some of my favourite local photos to share with you today. Many of these were taken at the fabulous Gondwana Game Reserve, another place on my wish list.

Mike and his wife, Kim, have recently opened up a lovely art gallery in Betty's Bay and the official opening is this coming Saturday. So if you're in the area, please pop in, you'll see some of Mike's fine art prints as well as work by other local artists.

Prettiest macaroons

Ah macaroons, flavour of the day and utterly good looking, these sweet treats are impossible to resist! Although I was always told not to play with my food as a child, I certainly had fun styling these pretties and taking pics of them. And of course I got to eat them afterward... that's what I call a perfect afternoon!

Please pop over to the lovely Megan of dressed by style to say 'hi' and see my guest post I did for Megan while she is away enjoying a holiday in Italy, lucky lady!

Soothing blue

A little late but better than never, just a few soothing blues and inspiring boards. I'm enjoying my time off and this chilly weather too... tea, soup and scarves and boots and I'm happy!

Petra Bindel

Morning friends! How has your Easter weekend been? Mine has been lovely and relaxing, walks on the beach, a swim or too, braving the cold and then getting cosy in front of the fireplace in the evenings. Today's post is just a short one as I'm sure you are all probably still on holiday anyway. I came across this beautiful home photographed by Petra Bindel. I love the glossy white flooring of course and the mix of classic pieces all put together so well. The touch of lilac throughout the house is just so pretty combined with the white. I can definitely see myself living in this space.

Boho beach

Loving this bohemian and rather fun beach table setting. Imagine a lovely warm autumn afternoon here, on a private beach of course, with a few close friends for company, delicious snacks and drinks and chilled music in the background, perfection!

Happy Easter weekend

I'm sure just about all of us are about to embark on a long weekend that is if it hasn't started already! You may be celebrating Easter or Spring Break or just a plain long weekend, either way... enjoy! I'm on my way to Arniston for a few days and then Onrus, both small seaside spots, I can't wait. I'm so looking forward to some relaxing and a few calming walks on the beach. What have you got planned for your break? Thought I'd share a little bright and cheerful inspiration to put us all in the mood. Happy days...

Malée bath and body range

I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Malée bath and body range created by the lovely Zeze Oriaikhi. Zeze is Nigerian-born but has most recently been living in London and has now moved to Johannesburg. Zeze dropped off some goodies for me to try and of course I was thrilled, firstly, I love discovering new South African products and secondly, who doesn't enjoy a little pampering?!

The Malée range is 100% South African, produced and packaged here, made from natural ingredients and comes in a simple but chic packaging. I love the cotton drawstring bags, such a lovely touch. Malée's first scent is Verdure which is a heavenly fresh scent with notes of mint, citrus and patchouli. There are more scents in the pipeline which I can't wait to try too. My favourite product is definitely the Hydrating body creme, I'm absolutely in love with it!

It's really inspiring to see someone as young as Zeze, being totally determined and driven and creating a beautiful new brand and product. You can find out more about Malée over on their website or hop over directly to their online store for some shopping!

Wedding at Ottimo Cibo

We went to one of the loveliest afternoon weddings on the weekend and I couldn't help but take hundreds of photos of the gorgeous setting and all the details. Steve and Debbie wanted a casual wedding for just their close friends and family and they got it 100% right! They had their ceremony at a pretty stone chapel in Tokai and then their reception at Ottimo Cibo in Bishopscourt which is the perfect place for a small and intimate wedding. It's a beautiful Tuscan style house set in a magical garden and owner and chef Nikki Booth and her team cater totally to your needs, serving the most divine and beautifully presented food.

The couple chose not to have a sit down meal to make it more informal, so we enjoyed heavenly snacks and platters of food and mingled and chatted out on the patio and garden. It was a perfect afternoon with guests wearing summer dresses and enjoying the last of the summer sunshine. Steve and Debbie, thank you for a wonderful day, I wish you all the happiness in the world for your new venture together!
