A trip to the sea

Phew, it's almost Friday afternoon and I'm only getting my post together now! Sorry about that but I've been a bit busy what with a morning meeting and trying to pack for a weekend away. We're off to a guest cottage in Kalk Bay, I can't wait.  I'll report back on Monday and let you know what it was like. So what are your plans for the weekend? Thought I'd share a bit of seaside inspiration to get me in the mood, let's hope the weather is not too chilly! Have a good one friends!

Gold allure

Thought I was in need of a bit of luxe today and so gold inspiration it is. It also helps to liven up this extremely grey, wintery day! I love a little touch of gold, what about you? I love this first golden table setting and of course isn't the dress from the Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 collection just exquisite? Vamp- revamped!

I popped into Vamp yesterday afternoon to have a look at their brand new home which is now just opposite The Old Biscuit Mill. The new Vamp is really lovely and so spacious. It's divided into three distinct rooms with different looks and pieces. Of course the first room, bathed in sunlight, all white with pops of colour and a whole wall covered in Orla Kiely's Flower Blossom wallpaper is my fave! So gorgeous! You'll find restored and upcycled furniture as well as genuine retro pieces from the 50's, 60's and 70's, plus collectibles and knick knacks. In addition to this, you'll also find a fun selection of goodies from local SA designers such as Skinny laMinx, Lauren Fowler, Mengsel, Moonbasket, René Rossouw and more. Pop in if you're looking for a fun and quirky piece to vamp up your home or for affordable and unique gifts too.

Today I'm featuring Quote Studio which is a small designer bag studio in Bangkok, Thailand. Vicki and Jim make the most gorgeous bags using beautiful fabrics and leather. Their collections are small and each piece is made with such great attention to detail and care. I love the fact that they only make a few of each bag. Home office inspiration

Morning friends, did you have a good weekend? I had a great time camping and being in nature but now it's back to work and this week I need to focus on my work space at home. It's currently in a total state! Desk piled with books and folders of 'Things to do' and swamped with clutter! I really need to get some proper storage and filing going. I thought I'd pick out some inspiring images to help get me going and to give you some ideas too. Hope you all have a productive week ahead!

Camping here we come

I'm a about to set off on a mini camping trip just for one night, joining some friends out a campsite near Stellenbosch. I'm looking forward to escaping from my laptop for a while! Have a great Saturday!

Shine Shine & Obama!

It seems fabric is the theme for this week and I had to share this bit of info with you... the Shine Shine studio is having a huge sale next week so be sure to make a trip to the Bo Kaap if you can. I absolutely love their fun, quirky fabric designs especially the Obama design. I had two cushions made up in this fabric and they definitely liven up our living room!

Loving these scatter cushions and bags from Proud Mary. Tassels, pom poms, stripes and bold colours, what's not to love?! Great styling and lovely product shots just add to the whole look. Plus the company aims to create their goods in a socially and ecologically responsible manner, supporting the artisans, from developing nations, that are behind these creations.

Mungo Design & a giveaway!

Mungo Design is a small textile company situated at Old Nick Village, a 19th Century Cape farm complex near Plettenberg Bay, which houses artists, crafters and other creative spirits who create and sell in this inspiring atmosphere. The team at Mungo weave and design the most gorgeous fabrics. They create beautiful soft furnishings from chenille throws to towels, napkins, table cloths, gowns and tea towels. All of their fabrics actually start off as samples created on old textile equipment and looms in the Living Weaving Museum within the village. I'd love to visit one day and see this in action!

You'll find Mungo's goodies at lovely decor shops such as LIM, Nap and L Orangerie. Two readers each stand a chance of winning a beautiful set of 4 Mungo cotton and linen tea towels. All you have to do is 'like' Mungo's facebook page, that's it, so simple! Once they reach 100 'likes' they'll pick two random winners, so go like them now, I already have!

Weekend snippets

Morning friends, how was your weekend?! I had a super busy and fun one. It started off with sundowners with friends at La Vie (a restaurant on the beach front in Green Point) listening to DJs from Mutha FM playing live. I discovered that this is where their little radio station is, you can check out the djs broadcasting live from 6pm to 12am or listen to their live stream.

Saturday consisted of a trip to the The Old Biscuit Mill with my sister, a small blogger lunch at Shelley's Café (check out Monique's lovely post here!) and an impromptu barbeque/braai in the evening! Sunday was dedicated to a walk in Silvermine and lunch in Noordhoek. Phew, I'm exhausted just typing all of that! I'm looking forward to the week ahead, hope you all have a productive and successful week ahead too. Here are just a few pics from my morning at The Old Biscuit Mill...
