Spring at last!

It's the first of September, how exciting! Especially for someone like me who is addicted to sunshine! So spring is here, the blossoms are out and slowly but surely people are starting to bare their wintry legs. It's a lovely day here in Cape Town but still chilly so I won't be doing that just yet. Thought I'd share a few images that shout spring to me, enjoy!

Mint & rose

I discovered a gorgeous new food photography blog yesterday thanks to Tabitha Emma. Call Me Cupcake is a Swedish blog full of incredible recipes and beautifully styled photos. The photo below of Linda's macaroons got me dreaming up a whole mint and rose affair, so very pretty.

A weekend at the sea

So we spent our weekend literally right at the sea! At a lovely self-catering cottage called South Winds. It's our second trip there and who would blame us, what with those sea views and the incredible setting? It's situated just past Simon's Town at Millers Point along the marine reserve. So plenty of fresh sea air, reading and relaxing was in order as I wasn't quite brave enough to try the water out. What did you all get up to and are you ready for September that's almost upon us?

Herriot Grace

I'm sure you would have heard of the lovely shop, Herriot Grace. A father and daughter team, who make the most beautiful hand-carved or hand-turned wooden bowls, spoons, and boards. Their products are made from 100% salvaged wood and each piece is unique. What I love most is the gorgeous styling and product shots, each photo is just so alluring. You can also see more over on Nikole's blog which is just as lovely.

Stellenbosch day trip

Yesterday I took a day trip out to Stellenbosch with two friends and we had the best time exploring this beautiful, historic town. There are so many amazing little coffee shops, gift shops and restaurants, we had a tough time deciding where to go. After a day of walking the town flat and taking pics we were exhausted! I've decided to start a new series where I feature the 5 best places of a particular area and I'll be starting off with Stellenbosch, so stay tuned for more pics and reviews of my favourite places! In the meanwhile these are just a few of my photos to get you inspired to visit this pretty town. Have a wonderful weekend!

Understated elegance

I came across this incredible home yesterday and had to feature it. I simply love the neutral palette with plenty of whites, dove greys and natural wood elements. This home has a wonderful feel to it... understated elegance and quite relaxed at the same time with just the right amount of French style. Of course the living area with that double volume space and almost endless stretch of windows is what makes it for me, so gorgeous! You can read more about the home here.

Missibaba studio

Last week I popped into the Missibaba studio in Woodstock and found myself instantly drawn into a world of colour and creativity. I always love seeing creative spaces, studios and the places where works of art are created. Missibaba's leather creations are definitely works of art, I found myself trying to come up with all sorts of reasons why I 'needed' one of their gorgeous bags or clutches. Sigh, that bright pink clutch with the circular disc design definitely got my heart racing! You can see more of their amazing bags on their website or etsy shop or pop into the studio and see them in real life. You won't want to leave empty handed, I assure you!
